What is Emotional Intelligence?
The term Emotional Intelligence (EI) was first used in a paper written by Yale University post-doctoral students John (Jack) Mayer and Peter Salovey in 1990. They defined EI as “The ability to monitor one’s own and others’ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions”. Over thirty years later, EI is still considered one of the most critical skills one can possess.
We use their model as the foundation for what we do. EI involves skills such as accurately identifying emotion, using emotion to help make better decisions and connect with others, understanding the root cause of emotions, and effectively managing them to achieve the best results.
Ride the waves of your emotions, don't let them pull you down!
